| | Managed File Transfer Workflow Engine
MOVEit Central is an enterprise-level workflow engine and file transfer process management system that can automatically “ pull, process and push” files on a scheduled, event-driven or on-demand basis between any internal, local DMZ-based and remote system. MOVEit Central enables IT staff to easily automate, manage and audit the transfer of files and data.
This is done using an intuitive interface to generate easy-to-create tasks ( no programming) . Each task can handle multiple files, types, sizes, sources and destinations -- as well as utilize multiple transfer protocols. Central tasks can also be used to do synchronization of files and folders on separate systems.
Tasks can also automatically process files during transfer. This is done using numerous built-in functions ( including a comprehensive, commercially licensed OpenPGP option) and also with sample and custom VBS scripts.
Developers, scripts and third-party programs such as job schedulers, workflow, document management and others can control Central file transfer and processing capabilities using the MOVEit Central API interface option.
MOVEit Central can easily run multiple, simultaneous tasks to move files between a wide variety of systems, including:
* Internal Network-based systems, such as your mainframe and mid-range systems, as well as application, email, file and Web servers.
* Local DMZ-Segment-based systems such as your MOVEit DMZ or other secure file transfer servers.
* Remote Internet-accessible systems, such as FTP, secure FTP, and MOVEit DMZ servers at your field offices or customer and business partner locations.
MOVEit Central tasks can automatically transfer files using any combination of these popular, commonly-used methods:
* AS1, AS2 and AS3 ( SSL) with AS1 to email servers, AS2 capable servers ( requires use of a MOVEit DMZ v.4.0 server to receive MDNs) , and with AS2 to FTP and FTPS servers, including MOVEit DMZ.
* Copying to the local file system and/ or to shared network folders.
FTP ( File Transfer Protocol) , which is included with or installed on virtually every operating system.
* FTPS ( FTP over SSL) including IMPLICIT or TLS-P ( EXPLICIT) and Active or Passive mode transfers, is native to z/ OS and AS/ 400 and popular on Windows.
* HTTP Hypertext Transport protocol to Web servers.
* HTTPS ( HTTP over SSL) to MOVEit DMZ servers.
* SFTP/ SCP2 ( FTP over SSH/ Secure Copy Protocol 2) typically supported on Linux and UNIX systems.
* SMTP/ POP3 email protocols to create messages, attach files, and send them to end-users, and also to receive email, strip-off attached files, and forward them using any of the above transfer methods.
Anti-Virus Support provides tight integration with each of the following popular anti-virus solutions.
* McAfee VirusScan
* Symantec AntiVirus
* Trend Micro OfficeScan
MOVEit Central can automatically take the following actions if one of these products detects a virus in a file that it just downloaded or is about to upload: Stop the transfer; Delete the original infected file on the source system or remember the file characteristics and never transfer it again; Log the name of the file, virus, and AV software as well as the date/ time the virus was detected and what MOVEit Central did about the file; and Alert administrators via email.
* OpenPGP Option that provides the built-in ability to PGP encrypt, encrypt and sign, and decrypt files as part of an automated transfer, and to import, create, export and manage PGP keys. This is done using commercially licensed Veridis OpenPGP software that is fully compatible with all other OpenPGP applications including, but not limited to, GNU Privacy Guard ( GnuPG/ GPG) , Veridis FileCrypt, and PGP Command-Line by PGP Corporation.
* Built-In Scripts and Macros that can ZIP files, run command-line applications, find and replace character strings in text files, transform XML files using XSL documents, do MOVEit Central database cleanups, create and distribute MOVEit DMZ reports, and more.
* Custom Scripts to execute any command-line utility that can be run by a batch file, as well as programs with COM interfaces, and script interpreters like Perl.
MOVEit Central is configured, controlled, and monitored in real-time by MOVEit Central Admin -- a Windows program that is bundled with MOVEit Central at no extra charge.
MOVEit Central integrates with SQL Server database. Administrators have the option to either use the embedded MOVEit database or integrate with Microsoft® or Microsoft Express for logging. The MOVEit Central cryptographic tamper-evident database logs every action and error for auditing and reporting.
To protect your operational security, the following safeguards have been designed into MOVEit Central and MOVEit Admin.
* Authentication Required for accessing MOVEit Central' s administrative interface, to protect tasks from unauthorized changes/ usage.
* Secure Communications between MOVEit Central and MOVEit Admin, provided with industry-standard 128-bit key SSL encrypted TCP ( not SNMP) .
* FIPS 140-2 Cryptography validated by the US National Institute of Standards and Testing ( NIST) and the Canadian Communications Security Establishment ( CSE) .
* File Non-Repudiation is the ability to prove who sent and received a file, and that it was not corrupted or changed during transfer. Central supports this using its built-in FIPS-validated SHA-1 hashing when exchanging files with a MOVEit DMZ server.
* Automatic Failover option enables a MOVEit Central to gracefully failover from a primary to a hot standby secondary system, without operator intervention.
* Encrypted Storage of usernames, passwords and scripts, using FIPS-validated 256-bit key AES ( Advanced Encryption Standard) , the latest and strongest NIST and CSE-approved encryption.
* Real-Time Monitoring of status and activity displays, and diagnostic and trouble-shooting data.
Comprehensive Logging of all tasks and errors to MOVEit Central' s built-in ODBC accessible database.
* Detailed Reporting using scheduled tasks to generate and deliver reports, and also by third-party billing/ tracking applications ( via ODBC) .
